Is buying bitcoin with Credit or debit card legal in Spain?

Bitcoin is fully legal in Spain and now regulated under the EU's MiCA framework. The CNMV took over authorisation and supervision of crypto-asset service providers from the Banco de Espana registry at the end of 2024, and Spain's transition period for firms operating under the old national registration closed on 30 June 2026, so only MiCA-authorised providers may serve Spanish customers. Spanish residents must also declare significant crypto holdings on foreign platforms to the tax agency.
