Legal status and regulation in Cyprus
Bitcoin is legal in Cyprus. Crypto asset service providers are supervised by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) under the EU's MiCA regulation, and the transition from the earlier national CASP register to full MiCA authorisation is complete, so only authorised providers may lawfully serve Cypriot clients. CySEC has also adopted the ESMA guidelines that flesh out how MiCA applies in practice, from marketing rules to staff knowledge requirements.
