Is buying bitcoin with Credit or debit card legal in Australia?

Bitcoin is fully legal in Australia. Exchanges must register with AUSTRAC and meet anti-money-laundering obligations, a requirement in force since April 2018, with expanded obligations under the 2024 AML reforms phasing in from July 2026.
