What Express Elixir is
Express Elixir is Poland's instant transfer system, operated by KIR (Krajowa Izba Rozliczeniowa), the national clearing house. It moves zloty between accounts at participating banks in seconds, at any hour including weekends and holidays, and it is also what settles BLIK phone number transfers when the two people bank in different places. Launched in 2012 as the first instant payment system in Poland, it now covers 25 commercial banks and more than 450 cooperative banks.
