What the rails themselves cost

The scheme or the bank sets these, not Kraken. The 6 rails Kraken offers in the most countries we rank it in.

Credit or debit card
The networks bill the merchant rather than you, but many issuers class a crypto purchase as a cash advance, and the CFPB notes that interest on a cash advance generally starts from the transaction date with no grace period.
Wire transfer
The sending bank charges a flat fee, the receiving bank often charges a second one, and intermediary banks can take more out of a cross border payment, which is why US providers must disclose the total cost and exchange rate before you send.
SEPA transfer
Set by your own bank rather than by the scheme, and inside the EU and EEA a euro transfer to another SEPA country must cost the same as a domestic one.
SEPA Instant
Under the EU Instant Payments Regulation a provider may not charge more for sending or receiving an instant credit transfer than it charges for an ordinary one.
Local bank transfer
Domestic transfers are free or close to free for consumers in most countries, and in the euro area the Instant Payments Regulation forbids charging more for an instant credit transfer than for a standard one.
Faster Payments
UK banks do not charge personal current account customers for sending or receiving a Faster Payment, while business tariffs vary from bank to bank.
