Qatar Central Bank stated in its 2018 Financial Stability Report that trading in cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, is not allowed in Qatar and that penalties will be levied for violations.

The General Tax Authority says that capital-gains tax applies to gains from disposing of assets that are subject to CGT, including gains of resident individuals. Its official tax page does not identify bitcoin or cryptoassets as assets subject to that tax, so it does not establish a tax rule for a lawful private bitcoin holding.
