One of the exchanges we recommend in Bosnia and Herzegovina takes Apple Pay for funding bitcoin purchases. It is one of several rails in use here; the full picture is in the Bosnia and Herzegovina guide. One thing to know: a card in Apple Wallet, accepted by Coinmama.
What is Apple Pay?
Apple Pay is not a payment rail of its own. It is a wallet from Apple that stores your existing Visa, Mastercard or other card and hands the merchant a device specific number and a one time code instead of your real card number. The payment clears over the same card network and is authorised by the same bank, so funding an exchange with Apple Pay is funding it with your card. Apple lists supported countries and regions across Europe, Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Latin America, Africa and North America, but each bank decides whether its own cards can be added.
- Speed
- Instant, because it is an ordinary card authorisation approved in a second or two, exactly as fast as tapping the underlying card.
- Cost
- Apple states that it charges no fee when you pay with Apple Pay in stores, online or in apps, so your cost is whatever the underlying card costs, including any cash advance treatment by the issuer.
- Limits
- Apple Pay adds no ceiling of its own, so your card issuer's per transaction and daily limits apply unchanged, and the card must be from a participating bank in a supported country.

Do you need a VPN?
A VPN hides which sites you visit from the network you are on and from your internet provider, which is worth having when you move money over a connection you do not control. It does not get you past an exchange's identity checks: every platform we list verifies who you are no matter where you connect from.
If you want one, the strongest records on our list belong to NordVPN (6 independent no-logs audits, the most of any service we review), Windscribe (its no-logs claim tested in the real world 3 times) and Proton VPN (the most audited service with a free tier).

Frequently asked questions
Which exchanges accept Apple Pay in Bosnia and Herzegovina?
Of the 3 exchanges we recommend in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Coinmama accepts Apple Pay for funding purchases. Worth knowing before you fund: Coinmama, same limits as a card, 5 to 20,000 USD per order.
Is buying bitcoin with Apple Pay legal in Bosnia and Herzegovina?
Bitcoin is legal to buy, hold and sell in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and no state or entity law restricts an individual from doing so. The convertible mark is the only legal tender, and the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which takes a cautious line on crypto, warned on 10 December 2019 that a statement circulating online in which the governor urged citizens to invest in cryptocurrency was fabricated. Republika Srpska amended its Law on the Securities Market in 2022 to define virtual currencies and to register service providers with its Securities Commission, which lists two; the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has no equivalent statute, and the 2024 state law on the prevention of money laundering makes virtual currency service providers obliged entities, which is why every platform verifies identity.
How long does an Apple Pay deposit take?
Instant, because it is an ordinary card authorisation approved in a second or two, exactly as fast as tapping the underlying card. That is the rail itself; an exchange may hold a first deposit for longer while it verifies your account.
What does it cost to buy bitcoin with Apple Pay?
Apple states that it charges no fee when you pay with Apple Pay in stores, online or in apps, so your cost is whatever the underlying card costs, including any cash advance treatment by the issuer. Any fee the exchange adds on top is separate, and is shown per exchange above.
