Binance Card: what happened, and where to go instead
Last reviewed 2026-08-25
Binance Card has shut down
Binance Card no longer exists. If you are looking for it, you are looking for a product that stopped processing payments on 20 December 2023, and nothing has replaced it under the Binance name.
The card was, for a while, one of the better deals in crypto. It carried no issuance, monthly or annual fee, spent directly from a Binance spot wallet at the point of sale, and paid up to 8% cashback in BNB, scaled by how much BNB you held. At its peak the European programme covered roughly forty countries and included a dedicated Ukraine Refugee Card.
What killed it was not demand but the card networks. Visa stopped issuing new co-branded Binance cards in Europe from July 2023. Mastercard ended its Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Bahrain pilots on 21 September 2023. Binance then announced that every Visa debit card issued under the EEA programme would stop working after 20 December 2023, 00:00 UTC, with replacement cards orderable only until 6 December. Cashback already earned on successful transactions was still paid out, and Binance accounts themselves were unaffected.
Binance pointed affected users at Binance Pay, its own peer-to-peer payment app, while acknowledging it reaches far fewer merchants than the Visa network the card had used. If what you actually want is a card that spends crypto at ordinary shops, the working alternatives are below.
- Issuer
- Binance, issued in the EEA by Contis Financial Services (Solaris Group)
- Rewards
- Paid up to 8% cashback in BNB while it ran, scaled by BNB holdings. No cashback is payable now; the programme closed in 2023.
- Fees
- While it ran: no issuance, monthly or annual fee, and up to 8% BNB cashback. All of it ended with the programme in 2023.
- Available in
- Formerly the European Economic Area, roughly 40 countries, Formerly Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Bahrain, Nowhere today
Pros and cons
What works
- Charged no issuance, monthly or annual fee for the whole time it operated
- Paid up to 8% back in BNB, among the highest headline rates the category has seen
- Spent straight from a Binance spot wallet rather than needing a separate top up
- Cashback already earned was still paid out during the wind-down
What to watch
- Stopped working entirely on 20 December 2023 and has no successor
- Cardholders got roughly two months of notice before the European programme closed
- Binance Pay, the replacement Binance pointed users toward, reaches far fewer merchants than Visa
- Rewards were paid in BNB, so their value depended on the exchange's own token
Cards that still work
- Bybit CardBybit Card is a family of regional Mastercard debit programmes paying 2 to 10 percent cashback in Bybit points, with EEA cardholders moving to a flat 1 percent for ordinary users in 2026.
Wirex CardWirex Card is a multi-region Visa/Mastercard debit card offering 0.5% to 8% Cryptoback rewards in WXT, with the top rate gated behind a paid plan and a 7.5 million WXT lockup.- Bitget Wallet CardBitget Wallet Card is a non-custodial Visa/Mastercard debit card spanning the EEA, UK, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific that pays up to 3% assetback once monthly spend clears a $200 to $400 threshold.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Binance Card still available?
No. Binance ended its Latin America and Middle East Mastercard programmes on 21 September 2023, and its European Visa debit card stopped working on 20 December 2023. There is no Binance-branded replacement card.
Why did Binance shut down its card?
The card networks withdrew. Visa stopped issuing new co-branded Binance cards in Europe from July 2023 and Mastercard ended its pilot programmes that September, which left Binance without a network or an issuer to run the product on.
What can I use instead of a Binance Card?
Binance directed users to Binance Pay, which works only where that app is accepted. For a card that spends at ordinary shops, the alternatives listed on this page cover the same European market the Binance Card served.
Did I lose my Binance Card cashback when it closed?
No. Binance said cashback on successful transactions would continue to be distributed as usual through the wind-down, and that closing the card programme did not affect Binance account balances themselves.
