About Core Scientific

Core Scientific is turning into a landlord. High density colocation was 77 percent of its revenue in the first half of 2026, against 12 percent a year earlier, as customer power capacity scaled under its agreement with CoreWeave, while self mining revenue fell 53 percent year on year to $21.5 million for the quarter.

The treasury moves with that shift. It held 2,537 coins at the end of 2025, sold roughly 1,900 in January for about $175 million, and said it expected to monetise substantially all of its bitcoin during 2026 to fund capital expenditure. What actually happened is more interesting than the guidance: holdings fell to 547 by 31 March, then recovered to 848 by 30 June, after mining 695 coins and selling 2,385 across the half.

So the number here is working capital, not a treasury position. Management describes itself as opportunistic about the remaining coins, which means the figure should be read as whatever was left over on the reporting date rather than as a target anyone is accumulating toward.
