3 of the 4 exchanges we recommend in South Korea pay out in KRW: Upbit, Bithumb and Coinone. The rails are Korean won bank withdrawal, KRW bank withdrawal and KRW bank transfer. The order below is the same ranking the buying guide uses; an exchange that appears there and not here publishes no KRW payout rail we could verify.

Where to sell and how the money comes out

Each recommended exchange that pays out in South Korea, the rails it pays out on, and the fee and speed it publishes for each.

Upbit#1 in the buying guideKorean won bank withdrawalNot recordedNot recordedTwo channel verification must be complete, and the limits are 100 million KRW per withdrawal and 500 million KRW a day, falling to 50 million KRW per withdrawal and 200 million KRW a day for a K Bank limited account. Upbit lists this rail for KRW payouts rather than for South Korea by name.
Bithumb#2 in the buying guideKRW bank withdrawalNot recordedNot recordedOnly to a bank account already registered on the Bithumb account. Withdrawals are delayed during bank maintenance, daily 23:50 to 00:05 and on the third Sunday of each month 00:00 to 00:30 and 05:00 to 05:30. Bithumb lists this rail for KRW payouts rather than for South Korea by name.
Coinone#3 in the buying guideKRW bank transferNot recordedNot recordedMinimum 5,000 KRW and maximum 100,000,000 KRW per withdrawal, and only to a KakaoBank account whose identity verification is confirmed. Coinone lists this rail for KRW payouts rather than for South Korea by name.

"Not recorded" means the exchange's page we read carries no figure for that cell; the fee on the sale itself is separate and is on each review.

The payout rails in South Korea

Korean won bank withdrawal

Paid out by Upbit, Bithumb, Coinone.

A local bank transfer moves money between two accounts inside a single country's own payment system, with no correspondent bank and no currency conversion. The scheme is national and different everywhere: SEPA credit transfers and SEPA Instant in the euro area, FedNow and ACH in the United States, Pix in Brazil. The BIS counts fast payment systems live in more than 100 jurisdictions, and the FedNow Service, operated by the Federal Reserve since July 2023, runs a 24 hour business day every day including weekends and holidays. For someone funding an exchange in their own currency this is normally the cheapest option.

The rail itself: Instant rails settle in seconds, and the ECB requires euro instant credit transfers to reach the payee within ten seconds, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, while older batch transfers still take one or two business days.
