What is Google Pay?
Google Pay is a wallet rather than a rail: it holds a card you already have, usually Visa or Mastercard, and gives the merchant a randomly generated virtual card number instead of your real card number. The payment is still authorised by the same issuer and clears over the same card network, so a Google Pay deposit is a card deposit with a different checkout step. Google retired the standalone Google Pay app in the United States and moved those users to Google Wallet, but the Google Pay app remains separate and active in India and Singapore. Google is explicit that your bank decides whether its cards work with Google Wallet and can restrict any of its cards from mobile payments.

Bitcoin is fully legal in Slovenia, with exchanges operating under the EU's MiCA regulation. Since January 1, 2026 Slovenia taxes profits from disposals of crypto into fiat, goods, or services at a flat 25 percent, with crypto-to-crypto swaps exempt and holdings acquired before that date covered by transitional rules. The change ended Slovenia's long run as one of Europe's most lightly taxed places for private crypto gains.
