Bitcoin is fully legal in Romania. Government Emergency Ordinance 10/2025, in force since March 2025, transposed the EU's MiCA regulation and made the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) the licensing and supervision authority for crypto-asset service providers. Crypto gains are normally taxed at 10 percent, and Parliament approved a temporary exemption covering gains realized from late 2024 through July 2025 as part of a broader fiscal package.
