What is Havale/EFT?
Havale and EFT are the two names Turkish banks use for a domestic transfer: havale moves money between accounts at the same bank, and EFT moves it to an account at a different bank through the Electronic Fund Transfer system run by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkiye (TCMB). Since January 2021 most interbank retail transfers instead go over FAST, the central bank's instant payment system, offered inside the same transfer screen in your banking app. Together they are the standard way to send lira to a Turkish exchange.
- Speed
- Havale inside one bank is instant, FAST moves money between banks in seconds around the clock, and classic EFT runs only on weekdays between 08:30 and 17:30.
- Cost
- Your own bank sets the charge per transfer and publishes it in its own tariff, so check that tariff before you send rather than assuming a figure.
- Limits
- FAST is capped at 300,000 TL per transfer from 26 August 2026, up from 100,000 TL; classic EFT carries no central bank cap, so banks set their own ceilings for larger amounts.

Do you need a VPN?
A VPN hides which sites you visit from the network you are on and from your internet provider, which is worth having when you move money over a connection you do not control. It does not get you past an exchange's identity checks: every platform we list verifies who you are no matter where you connect from.
If you want one, the strongest records on our list belong to NordVPN (6 independent no-logs audits, the most of any service we review), Windscribe (its no-logs claim tested in the real world 3 times) and Proton VPN (the most audited service with a free tier).

Frequently asked questions
Which exchanges accept Havale/EFT in Turkey?
Of the 5 exchanges we recommend in Turkey, Binance TR, BtcTurk, Bitexen and Paribu accept Havale/EFT for funding purchases. Worth knowing before you fund: Binance TR, free across seven Turkish banks; Bitexen, three lira to withdraw.
Is buying bitcoin with Havale/EFT legal in Turkey?
Buying, holding, and trading bitcoin are legal in Turkey, but using crypto to pay for goods and services has been prohibited since the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey's regulation took effect on April 30, 2021. A 2024 amendment to the Capital Markets Law brought exchanges under Capital Markets Board licensing as crypto asset service providers, with establishment and operating rules published in March 2025 and a minimum capital requirement of 150 million lira; licensing remains in a transition phase, and the board's published list of operating platforms is a declaration made during that changeover rather than a register of approved firms. Separately, an anti-money-laundering communique in force since June 28, 2025 imposes a 48-hour hold before crypto withdrawals, 72 hours on a first withdrawal, mandatory transfer descriptions of at least 20 characters, and stablecoin transfer caps of 3,000 dollars a day and 50,000 a month.
How long does a Havale/EFT deposit take?
Havale inside one bank is instant, FAST moves money between banks in seconds around the clock, and classic EFT runs only on weekdays between 08:30 and 17:30. That is the rail itself; an exchange may hold a first deposit for longer while it verifies your account.
What does it cost to buy bitcoin with Havale/EFT?
Your own bank sets the charge per transfer and publishes it in its own tariff, so check that tariff before you send rather than assuming a figure. Any fee the exchange adds on top is separate, and is shown per exchange above.
