What is Havale/EFT?

Havale and EFT are the two names Turkish banks use for a domestic transfer: havale moves money between accounts at the same bank, and EFT moves it to an account at a different bank through the Electronic Fund Transfer system run by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkiye (TCMB). Since January 2021 most interbank retail transfers instead go over FAST, the central bank's instant payment system, offered inside the same transfer screen in your banking app. Together they are the standard way to send lira to a Turkish exchange.

Speed

Havale inside one bank is instant, FAST moves money between banks in seconds around the clock, and classic EFT runs only on weekdays between 08:30 and 17:30.

Cost

Your own bank sets the charge per transfer and publishes it in its own tariff, so check that tariff before you send rather than assuming a figure.

Limits

FAST is capped at 300,000 TL per transfer from 26 August 2026, up from 100,000 TL; classic EFT carries no central bank cap, so banks set their own ceilings for larger amounts.
