About DeFi Technologies

DeFi Technologies is a Toronto financial technology company whose main business is Valour, an issuer of exchange traded products across European venues. Valour's products are backed by the assets they track, and that bitcoin belongs to the people who own the ETPs.

The corporate treasury is a separate, much smaller thing. The company added 94.34 coins in July 2024 to reach 204.34, describing bitcoin as a primary treasury reserve asset, and reported 208.8 coins at an all time high valuation of about $25.6 million in July 2025, alongside staking positions in Solana, Core and Core DAO.

This distinction cost us a correction. An earlier version of this table carried a figure roughly twelve times too high because a feed had counted Valour's ETP backing bitcoin as company holdings. It is the same error that inflates Coinbase, BitGo and CoinShares, and it is worth checking on any entry whose business is holding assets for other people.

Frequently asked questions

Why is DeFi Technologies' figure so much lower than elsewhere?

Because it excludes the bitcoin backing Valour's exchange traded products. Those coins are held for ETP investors, not by the company, and adding them to the corporate treasury overstates what DeFi Technologies owns by more than an order of magnitude. Only the corporate position appears here.
