Holdings over time
Cumulative bitcoin held after each disclosed event. The line steps rather than slopes because treasury positions change on purchase dates, not continuously.
Only a few disclosures are on file so far. The line joins the points we can source, and grows as more are published.
We do not yet have enough dated market cap points for Coinbase to chart its valuation history. Rather than interpolate, we leave it out until the figures are filled in.

About Coinbase
Coinbase holds bitcoin in three quite different capacities, and only one of them counts here. It custodies an enormous balance on behalf of customers, including several spot exchange traded funds. It holds operational crypto used to run the business. And it holds a long-term corporate investment portfolio, funded from company cash, which is the figure on this page.
That corporate portfolio has been built through regular purchases rather than announcements, growing from 15,389 bitcoin at the end of 2025 to 17,311 by mid-2026. The company discloses it in quarterly filings and shareholder letters as a distinct line from customer assets.
Mixing the two is the most common error in coverage of Coinbase's bitcoin. Customer assets are the customers' property, are held in segregated custody, and would not be available to the company or its creditors.
Frequently asked questions
How much bitcoin does Coinbase hold in total?
Far more than the figure here, but almost none of it is the company's. Coinbase custodies bitcoin for retail customers, institutions and several spot exchange traded funds. Those assets belong to the clients. The number on this page is only the corporate long-term investment portfolio.
