About Cipher Digital

Cipher's bitcoin is a construction budget. It sold coins for about $123.4 million in the first half of 2026 while paying roughly $964.3 million for property and equipment, mostly the build out of Black Pearl and Barber Lake, and its balance sheet classifies bitcoin as a current asset precisely because it intends to sell it to fund operations.

The company was Cipher Mining until February 2026. The rename followed the business: 300 MW campuses in Texas leased to Amazon Data Services and to Fluidstack, $3.73 billion raised in senior secured notes, a 49 percent stake in three mining joint ventures sold to Canaan for about $40 million, and roughly 83 percent of a 5.3 GW pipeline earmarked for high performance computing rather than mining.

Holdings fell from 1,433 coins at the end of 2025 to 1,116 in March and 646 at 30 June. Some of what remains is committed elsewhere: 53 coins were pledged against trading strategies at the half year, and the company runs a $25 million overnight credit line with Coinbase and a $100 million facility with Two Prime that is backed by bitcoin held in a triparty account.
