Cumulative bitcoin held after each disclosed event. The line steps rather than slopes because treasury positions change on purchase dates, not continuously.

We have one sourced disclosure for Hut 8 so far, shown in the table below. A chart needs at least two dated points, and we would rather show nothing than draw a trend through a single figure. This fills in as we backfill the company's earlier announcements.

About Hut 8

Hut 8 began as a Canadian miner and became a US-domiciled energy and compute infrastructure company after merging with US Bitcoin Corp in 2023. It runs mining, hosting and increasingly power and data centre projects, and is dual listed in New York and Toronto.

Its reported bitcoin comes in two flavours and the difference is large. The consolidated group figure for the second quarter of 2026 was 17,316 coins, but 8,002 of those sit at American Bitcoin, a majority-owned subsidiary that trades separately and appears on this list in its own right. We count only the 9,314 coins held by Hut 8 itself, so that the same bitcoin is not counted twice.

Management has also signalled that future bitcoin exposure will run mainly through American Bitcoin, and that it may sell its own reserve to fund energy and artificial intelligence projects.

Frequently asked questions

Why is Hut 8's figure lower than the number in its earnings release?

Its earnings release reports the consolidated group, which includes the coins held by American Bitcoin, a separately listed subsidiary. Counting both in full would double count the same bitcoin, so we use the standalone Hut 8 figure and list American Bitcoin separately.
