What is Nequi?

Nequi is a Colombian mobile money account that sits inside Grupo Cibest, formerly Grupo Bancolombia. It moves money through Bre-B, the immediate and interoperable payment system run by the Banco de la Republica, addressed by llaves: keys such as a phone number, email address or ID number registered against your account. From 1 September 2026 Nequi operates as Nequi S.A. Compania de Financiamiento, a licensed financing company supervised by the Superintendencia Financiera de Colombia whose balances carry FOGAFIN deposit insurance.

Speed

Immediate, with the Banco de la Republica stating that money sent through Bre-B reaches the recipient in seconds.

Cost

Nequi's published tariff sheet lists Bre-B llave registration and sends by llave or QR as free, and prices the exceptions such as a physical Visa card separately.

Limits

Nequi caps a Bre-B send at 3,000,000 Colombian pesos per transaction, inside a system wide ceiling of 12,110,000 pesos for 2026 that each institution may set lower.
