What is Daviplata?

DaviPlata is a mobile wallet run by Banco Davivienda in Colombia. Legally it is a depósito de bajo monto, a low amount deposit account opened from a phone with an ID document and no maintenance fee, covered by Fogafín deposit insurance. Colombians use it to receive and send money, pay bills, buy online, and take cash out at ATMs and authorised agent points. For funding purposes it behaves like a light bank account addressed by your phone number.

Speed

Money moves in seconds in both directions: DaviPlata is on Bre-B, the Banco de la República's instant payment service, which the central bank says runs 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Cost

The account carries no maintenance fee, and Davivienda states that up to 65 UVT of movements a month stay exempt from Colombia's 4x1,000 financial transaction tax.

Limits

As a low amount deposit it is capped at 210.50 UVT for both the balance you may hold at any moment and the debits you may make in a calendar month.
