Frequently asked questions
Which exchanges accept P2P trades in Oman?
Of the 3 exchanges we recommend in Oman, Binance accepts P2P trades for funding purchases.
Is buying bitcoin with P2P trades legal in Oman?
Buying and holding bitcoin is not prohibited in Oman, but the market is not yet licensed. The Central Bank of Oman cautioned in 2020 that cryptocurrencies are not legal tender and carry no protection, while the Financial Services Authority (formerly the Capital Market Authority) has been developing a virtual asset regulatory framework since announcing it in February 2023, with licensing consultations continuing since. Until that framework lands, residents use foreign platforms at their own risk.
