Plin shows up in Peru as part of how people buy bitcoin locally, even though none of the exchanges we track lists it as a direct funding rail. The country guides below explain what that looks like in practice.

What is Plin?

Plin is a Peruvian instant payment feature built into the mobile banking apps of its member institutions rather than a separate app of its own. It is administered jointly by Interbank, BBVA and Scotiabank, settles over Visa Direct, and had ten participants including Banbif, Caja Arequipa, Alfin Banco and Financiera Confianza. It started in 2020, passed 13 million users by the end of 2023, and has been interoperable with Yape since March 2023 under the BCRP's interoperability strategy.

Speed
Instant, addressed by mobile number or QR code from inside your own bank's app rather than a separate wallet.
Cost
Free on both sides, with the BCRP recording no commission on Plin for either person to person or person to business payments.
Limits
The BCRP records limits of 500 soles per transaction, 1,500 soles sent per day and 20,000 soles received per day, a lower sending cap than Yape.

Speed and cost describe the rail itself. What an exchange adds on top varies by platform and is shown per exchange below.
