What is PayID / Osko?

PayID and Osko are the two consumer facing parts of Australia's New Payments Platform, the national real time bank rail operated by Australian Payments Plus. Osko is the service that actually moves money between banks, while PayID is the addressing layer that lets you send to a mobile number, email address, ABN or organisation identifier instead of a BSB and account number. More than 100 banks, credit unions and fintechs support them, and Australian exchanges use them for AUD deposits and withdrawals.

Speed

Australian Payments Plus says Osko payments arrive in under a minute, 24 hours a day including weekends and public holidays, although a payment can be held for security checks.

Cost

Pricing is set by your own bank rather than by the scheme, and Australian banks generally do not charge personal customers for an Osko or PayID payment.

Limits

Daily and per payment caps come from your own bank, not from the platform, so raise them in your banking app before a large deposit.
