What is Multicaixa Express?

Multicaixa Express is the mobile app channel of Angola's Multicaixa interbank network, run by EMIS, the Empresa Interbancária de Serviços created in 2001 by the central bank and the commercial banks. You link one or more Multicaixa cards to the app, then send Express transfers using the recipient's phone number, or ordinary transfers using an IBAN, alongside bill payments, top ups and cardless ATM withdrawals. It requires a bank account and a Multicaixa card, and EMIS says it is the most used channel on the Multicaixa network.

Speed

EMIS publishes no settlement time for Express transfers, so confirm with your bank before assuming the funds land straight away.

Cost

Neither EMIS nor the Multicaixa site publishes a consumer tariff, so what you pay is set by the bank that issued your card, in its own price list.

Limits

Express transfers are capped at 250,000 kwanzas per operation and 500,000 kwanzas a day per card, and a card can receive at most 50 transfers or 3,000,000 kwanzas a month.
