What is MonCash?

MonCash is the mobile wallet run by Digicel in Haiti through its local entity Unigestion Holding S.A., under licence from the Banque de la Republique d'Haiti. You register with a phone number and an identity document, load cash at one of its agents, then send money to other MonCash users, pay bills, pay merchants by QR code and top up airtime from the phone. It also receives international transfers through Digicel's remittance partners, including MoneyGram. BRH Circular 121 requires every user of an electronic payment service to be fully identified.

Speed: Digicel describes MonCash to MonCash transfers as arriving in minutes, and an agent deposit credits the wallet on confirmation.
Cost: Digicel publishes the MonCash fee schedule separately from the wallet site and can change it at any time, so check the fee the app shows before you confirm each transaction.
Limits: A Level 0 account that has not completed identification is capped at 10,000 gourdes and allows only one transfer or one cash out, so finish the ID check before funding anything.
