What is Maya?

Maya is a Philippine mobile wallet and digital bank, run by Maya Philippines, Inc. for the e-money wallet and Maya Bank, Inc. for deposits, both regulated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. Maya Bank holds one of the BSP digital banking licences, and deposits are insured by the PDIC up to 1 million pesos per depositor. Money leaves and enters it over InstaPay, the BSP overseen real time transfer scheme, and both Maya entities appear on the BSP's InstaPay participant list as of 31 July 2026.

Speed: Almost immediate: the BSP describes InstaPay as crediting the recipient almost instantaneously, 24 hours a day, all year round.
Cost: The BSP's transfer fee disclosure summary of 31 July 2026 lists both Maya entities at 10 pesos for an individual InstaPay send, while receiving is always free because the recipient gets the full amount sent.
Limits: InstaPay caps a single transfer at 50,000 pesos for every customer, so a larger deposit has to be split or sent over PESONet, which credits within the same banking day instead of instantly.
