What is e-Mola?

e-Mola is the mobile money wallet of Movitel, one of Mozambique's three mobile network operators. The account is held against a phone number, loaded with cash at an agent shop, and used to send money, pay bills and buy airtime. Since 1 July 2022 it has been interoperable with the country's other two wallets, M-Pesa from Vodacom and mKesh from Tmcel, and with bank accounts. That link runs over SIMORede, the single national payments network managed by Sociedade Interbancaria de Mocambique (SIMO) under Banco de Mocambique oversight.

Speed: Wallet to wallet transfers post immediately, and since the SIMORede link opened in July 2022 they also reach M-Pesa, mKesh and bank accounts.
Cost: Movitel prices e-Mola from a published tariff rather than one flat rate: sending, cashing out at an agent and paying bills are each charged separately, so check the current table before you fund.
