Netcoins review
Netcoins is a straightforward Canadian platform with one unusual and expensive quirk: it charges to use the rail every other Canadian exchange gives away.
Based in Vancouver and registered with the Canadian Securities Administrators as a restricted dealer, with an amended decision in September 2025, Netcoins is CAD-native and appears on the AMF register, so Quebec residents can use it. Trading costs a flat 0.5 percent, which is more than NDAX's 0.20 percent or Bitbuy Pro's 0.10 percent maker but is at least simple and carries no separate instant-buy premium.
The problem is funding. Interac e-Transfer deposits carry a 1.5 percent fee, where Bitbuy, NDAX, Newton, Shakepay, Kraken and Coinbase all accept Interac for free. On a 1,000 dollar purchase that is 15 dollars before you have bought anything, and it lands on top of the 0.5 percent trading fee. Wire transfers carry a flat charge instead, which becomes the cheaper route at larger amounts.
That single line changes the maths enough that Netcoins is hard to recommend over its Canadian peers for regular buying, which is why it sits where it does in our ranking rather than higher.

- The 0.5 percent trading fee is well above NDAX at 0.20 percent and Bitbuy Pro at 0.10 percent maker

Frequently asked questions
Why does Netcoins charge for Interac deposits?
It is the platform's own pricing choice, and it is the main thing separating Netcoins from its Canadian peers. The 1.5 percent deposit fee applies before any trading fee, so a purchase costs meaningfully more than the 0.5 percent headline suggests.
What does it actually cost to buy bitcoin on Netcoins?
Roughly 2 percent if you fund by Interac: 1.5 percent on the deposit plus 0.5 percent on the trade. Funding by wire avoids the percentage deposit fee and becomes the better route at larger amounts.
Is Netcoins regulated in Canada?
Yes. It is registered with the Canadian Securities Administrators as a restricted dealer, with an amended decision in September 2025, and appears on the AMF register for Quebec.
Should I use Netcoins over NDAX or Bitbuy?
For regular buying, usually not. NDAX charges a flat 0.20 percent with free Interac deposits, and Bitbuy Pro starts lower still. Netcoins is a reasonable platform carrying an unusually costly funding rail.
